Family-favourite Perth is defined by its beautiful, clean and often windy Indian Ocean white-sand beaches. Spectacular sunsets, warm seas and a laid-back charm are all part of the appeal of Australia’s sunniest city.
Geographically closer to Indonesia than to Sydney, prosperous Perth is the capital of Western Australia. It has a vast expanse of mostly uninhabited desert to the east and the nearest town is an astonishing 1,670 miles away.
North and west of the city centre are prized areas for property along with the central suburbs. Mount Hawthorn, four miles north of the city centre has good schools, leafy parks and the upmarket Mezz shopping centre as well as swift public transport links. Also north of the centre with good transport links, Inglewood provides large houses and a public golf course.
Rokeby Road in the inner west suburb of Subiaco is fashionable and freshly gentrified while further west Cottesloe – affectionately known as ‘Cott’ - is considered Perth’s best beach where residents have successfully fought to keep building density low.
